The PhD Programs in Biomedical Sciences provide an "umbrella" entry portal for most of our PhD programs. PPBS students complete fundamental courses and a series of laboratory rotations in the first year; at the end of Year 1 they "match" to a faculty mentor's laboratory and one of 10 participating PhD degree-granting programs. The PPBS is the only entry option for most of our PhD programs, with a few exceptions. The following programs will consider candidates with specific research interests for direct PhD admission: Biomedical Informatics; Computational Cell Biology, Anatomy and Pathology; Medical Physics.
